The Gómez-Deza Lab officially opens its doors!

January 2025

January 2nd 2025 has been our first day. We can’t wait to get started with doing cool science and share it with the community.

December 2024

Happy that out paper is out just before the end of 2024. It is available on open access here:

Our latest paper is out!

November 2024

Beyond excited to announce that our project “Identifying novel therapeutic targets for CIPN using iPSC-derived neurons” will be funded by The Merkin Peripheral Neuropathy and Nerve Regeneration (PNNR) Center at Johns Hopkins University. Incredibly grateful to the board of scientific directors for believing in our project and we cant wait to start working on it!

We got our first grant!

Postdoc position available!

The Gomez-Deza Lab is looking for an ambitious and productive Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the team.

Recent and soon-to graduate candidates with a Ph.D. degree from life science related fields and with record of publications are encouraged to apply.

Our team works on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which human neurons degenerate in response to chemotherapy treatment. However, our research is widely applicable to other neurodegenerative conditions such as glaucoma, traumatic brain injury or Alzheimer’s disease. To do this we employ a wide range of molecular and biochemical techniques including iPSC differentiation into human neurons, whole genome CRISPR interference screens, RNAseq, CRISPR knock-ins/ knock-outs and advanced microscopy. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in biochemistry and molecular biology. Experience in neuroscience and iPSCs is desired but not required.

This is a unique opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research with the potential to significantly impact the treatment of neuropathic pain during and after cancer treatment.

The position will be a dual appointment between Temple University and the Fox Chase Cancer center, and is fully funded for three years. Health insurance, annual leave and VISA processing is included as part of the position.
